So it has been a long time since I posted something on the blog, and today I’m happy to release this new section on Tasty.lk: “Collections“.
Actually this idea was on our roadmap for like more than a year and we just launched today
These curated lists will be compiled by an Editor, but mostly based on the reviews / rating found from Tasty.lk, so we won’t end up with personal opinions.
We’ve got only a couple of collections online for now, but we will keep updating this with new lists.
New features every weekend was a lie. I have nothing to release today!
Oh.. well… here is something that I was doing secretly:
We’ve did lot of minor improvements though out the site over this week. (Most are invisible to human .. including an improved popularity algorithm, new forgot password page, and that 2px alignment shift on the restaurant reviews section, and a subtle border around the comments bubbles.. errr!!!)
and have you noticed that our rating method have been changed over the last week ?
Earlier we had a breakdown like “food, service, portion, etc etc” and now its just a simple star rating. We think this make sense and more simple, easy to use. The main reason why we’ve changed this is, we feel that we can’t limit a food experience in those 4-5 factors.
I’m also working on some awesome features will release them over next week!
Looks like we got a habit of releasing something new every weekend! And here are some enhancements to the reviews on Tasty.
Sorting of Reviews
Yes, Now you can sort the reviews to be Recent Or Popular! The default option is “Recent” because we feel like the latest conversations are more valuable than a popular review which is 1.5 years old.
But, no worries! You can change this at anytime, and Tasty will remember your choice when you come back to the site later. (Unless you are a Secret Ninja and you clear your browser cookies, history very often …)
Pagination for Reviews
Yes, you heard it correctly.. Pagination! This was not enabled on Tasty until now. It was loading all 100s of reviews at once. And imagine how it will be if you are visiting from mobile ? Shame on me! I felt lazy to do it, and was thinking that merging crowd sourced reviews will be a difficult work… So I postponed this to do in later stage. I was wrong. It took me only couple of hours to do it.
